Missouri Road Trip Finale from Humble Quilts

I found this blog post I never finished! Here it is!

I made plans to meet up with Jessica, who works for Missouri Star and lives close by.

She is fun and a talented quilter!

Oh yeah, she collects quilts too! She didn't mind that I paparazzied around her house.

Works in Progress- Super organized!

We even got to shop her stash! hahaha

We had a little time before we needed to be at the airport and made a bee line to Quilter's Station in Lees Summit.

So many reproductions and a very nice store!!

Thanks for traveling ...

Quilts on the Lawn (Repost) from Humble Quilts

This is a repost of a fun and quilty trip to WA- my road trip friend Laurie had a little show!

About now I should be immersed heavily into Roman History!

This wasn't a quilt on the lawn but it sure was a cute little quilt made with antique fabric that Laurie made and hung up for us to enjoy.

I went to Seattle with my friend, Michelle, on the left, picked up Juliann, on the right, and made our way to Marysville where Laurie (center, in blue) had a quilt show of Anthologie quilts. The weather has been ...

Quilt Friends Part 2 from Humble Quilts

Before going to my quilt guild trunk show/class I had been talking with Kathy (photo below, left- such a fun lady with high energy!) and we made arrangements to have dinner at Laura's (right) before the evening meeting.

Laura's hubby took a quick photo before we left. It was such an enjoyable time!
Laura's house is so adorable!

Upper right, Quilters Madder, lower right, Palmateer Point, both quiltalongs on my blog.

I love this so much. It was hanging right near her front door. I want to make one!

Cascadia quiltalong on top of a cupboard ...

Quilting Friends from Humble Quilts

On my way to Lynden, Washington my friend Laurie asked me to stop by. I can never get enough of her decor but didn't want to look too much like a paparazzi! hahaha

We did bundle up for a quick walk since I'd been in the car for several hours.

Here is her adorable sewing room! Steps from her front door.

Laurie's panel challenge. Love it!

Here is her antique quilt block challenge.
She did these from giant antique feathers/fans.

Can you tell which one is antique?
Laurie is good at reproducing antique quilts and so ...

Limerick.... And Parsonsfield from Humble Quilts

When I think of Limerick I'll now think of this charming little town in Maine instead of something like this by Edward Lear:
There was an Old Man with a beard
Who said, "It is just as I feared!
Two Owls and a Hen,
Four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!"

This was the sweetest little shop in Limerick with friendly employees and owner.

On our way to Parsonsfield we laughed at this little decorative fence. We weren't sure it would even keep a tiny Chihuahua in the yard, It sure is ...

Quilt Guild Visit from Humble Quilts

Happy Friday!

Last Sunday after church and dinner I drove to McMinnville, Oregon and stayed with Gladys, who I have met several times. It was very sweet of her to offer! And the meeting started early on Monday so I didn't have to take a chance driving when the roads could still be icy or snowy from an overnight cold front. Thank you again Gladys!

Visiting quilters is always a good reason for show and tell! Here's a few of her gorgeous quilts!

Such a great setting!

Here was a swap quilt she rec'd in the past ...

Generous Quilters from Humble Quilts

Thank you goes out to generous JessaLyn for thinking of me while cleaning out her stash. I've got some great old reproductions back in my stash!

I've already talked to a couple of quilt friends who are interested in expanding their stash with my windfall. What are friends for, right??

A couple of oldies but goodies!! Anybody else remember this line?

One of my favorite cheddar prints!!

I'm pretty sure I have this old reproduction in my Jane Stickle quilt.

Thanks again Jessalyn.

Today is clean up day ready for company. My compass will have to be ...

Friendship Quilts & Labels from Humble Quilts

My dear friend Julie sent me this little quilt. I don't think she even had a reason! It is so precious.
I really do feel blessed to have such a great group of online quilt friends!
And I've even had the bonus to chat with her on the phone. She is as sweet as ever!!

Labels, labels, labels....
I attached the little label that was sent back with my International Quilt Fest quilts. And then I remembered I had an Oregon documentation quilt label that I had never sewn on! Only waited 10 years to do it!!  That ...

I should be Trekking in the Andes right Now! from Humble Quilts

If all had stayed on the straight and narrow I'd be in the Andes hiking with my daughter reveling in the views and likely having a hard time breathing because of the altitude! LOL

Instead I'm hanging out in my hometown staying healthy. My birthday was all things Peru.

My kids are fun and funny!

Sometimes my world gets a bit topsy turvy and I have a hard time finding balance.
Elsa and I went out backpacking. The fresh air and exercise brought  me back to center.

And then the coolest things happened.
I came home from my ...

Little Quilts and Friendships from Humble Quilts

This isn't my swap quilt, which must be on the slow boat from Australia, but someone I consider a dear friend made this for me, and it certainly brightened my day.

Sweet text on the back- hand quilted.
This is on my stairs landing where I can see it many times a day as I do up and down stairs.
Thank you!!  I'm feeling beyond blessed.

Here are my 2 grown children. This picture does a mamma's heart good! My son is going through some life changes and my daughter has been out of work for over ...

Friendships on a Monday from Humble Quilts

Last Monday I asked if Michelle was interested in going to a quilt show and hiking in Washington. Life is good when friends say YES! LOL

So, quilts I'll show on Wednesday, today I'll share our outdoors.
I had a bit of time to kill in Portland waiting for Michelle to finish work, so went for a quick jaunt in Powell Butte Nature Park in Portland. I just LOVE the forest!!

Then we took off to Bremerton, WA.
The town itself is pretty old and so was one of the motels that had rooms available, We aren't ...

Retreating 2... from Humble Quilts

We had a beautiful day and I needed a photo setting. Here's my Lincoln Museum Quilt by Barbara Brackman.
Blind Man's Fancy reproduced from an old quilt from New York.
They weren't interested in me as I was out taking a walk. They are annoying when they eat your flowers, but they are so cute!!
Old gnarly juniper tree.

Playoff games were on, so we had to show support. (I know Seahawks were out, but they are still "my" team)
Geese crossing. Looks how lovely this day was!
  Christy got a lot accomplished.

She was also working ...

Quilts and Friendships from Humble Quilts

Sometimes you meet new friends!

And sometimes you pick up right where you left off with other friends! I met both of these ladies working in the education dept at IQF so at least I have 2 positive things from that event!! I also believe working those early mornings, long days, long week gave me a super appreciation for my unscheduled time at the quilt show. I didn't miss working one little bit!

Donna (I hope I'm remembering correctly) approached me at the show and told me she was a blog reader. She had just made this purchase ...

Bake some tasty treats for your quilty friends from Thistledown & Co.

It's Autumn and that means cozy plaids, soft cuddly sweaters and scarves, the bringing out of more quilts to keep off the coming chill, pumpkin spice everywhere, and slow stitching days with friends.

I got the baking bug today and wanted to share this super easy cookie recipe that is yummy, easy and pretty. It' a great recipe when the baking bug hits you but you don't have a bunch of baking ingredients on hand. The refrigerated pie crusts are easy to keep on hand. You can whip these out in a jiffy for those last minute impromptu ...
